Altengartz has been grilling and serving their authentic German bratwurst in downtown Portland for over 8 years. Their delicious sausages are made locally with their secret family recipe, using all natural, hormone-free pork.
They have a daytime location at SW 10th and Alder, Monday - Friday, 11:00 am to 3:30 pm. While they're known for their tasty brats, they also offer a Veggie Brat made with chick peas and your choice of topping, (sauerkraut, grilled onion, Cheddar cheese or their popular German Swiss Kase) and freshly made burgers.Toppings are available for brats and burgers. Side dishes such as home-made potato salad, baked beans, 3 bean salad and potato chips are on the menu as well.
Altengartz has 3 regular late-night shifts; Thursdays they serve on NW Davis between 2nd and 3rd Streets from midnight to 3:00 am. On Friday and Saturday nights they're located at SW 2nd and Ash, across the street from Kells Irish Pub, serving from 11:30 pm to 3:30 am.
They've been a regular attendee for the past 3 years of Last Thursday on NE Alberta Street.
