Hood River is a great place to shop if you are looking for unique local gifts. There are a variety of great shops from clothing, jewelry, books, art, crafts and local goods to awesome biking, skiing and wind sports. Custom Clothing (13 Oak Street) offers exactly what its name implies – custom-designed clothes in a variety of fabrics and colors. For more traditional souvenirs, try places like Twiggs (305 Oak Street), which sells art and jewelry made by local artists.

To fully enjoy the great outdoors of Hood River, you may need some sports equipment. There are a number of places that rent or sell such gear, including Doug's Sports (101 Oak Street), Mountain View Cycle & Fitness (205 Oak Street), Fat Tire Farm (1535 Lincoln Street), All Seasons Sports (1013 12th Street), Hood River Outfitters (1020 Wasco Street #A) and Marco Sports (1316 12th Street).

Also make sure to bring home a few bottles of Hood River wine (assuming you are of legal age), as the region is quite well known for their vintages. There are several farms with vineyards outside of Hood River, but you can also find stores such as Wine Sellers (541 State Street) in Hood River that carry wines from several local vineyards. Other gourmet food can be found at the City Market, which operates every Saturday at 406 Oak Street. This is where all the local farmers congregate on weekends to offer the freshest produce you can find.
