Nestled between downtown Columbus and Bexley at 1777 East Broad Street, Franklin Park Conservatory features foliage and agricultural displays in an open-air setting, where visitors tour from one world habitat to another. Habitats include vegetation from Brazil, Indonesia, Mongolia, Northern Europe, and Continental United States.
During the 2005 season, Franklin Park featured a blown glass exhibit called "Chihuly Fiori", by Artist Dale Chihuly, which interspersed blown glass art with the exotic landscaping and agricultural displays. Due to popular demand, it was extended through the 2006 season. Since 2003, Franklin Park also featured the "Garden Railways," an exhibit combining Model Railroads with actual foilage and landscaping displays. Additionally, the Conservatory features a rotation of lectures and classes for kids of all ages.
Teachers and students can take part in interactive botanical projects, including Victory Gardens, mutual habitat (intertwining aquatic life with aquatic vegetation), and Arbor Day plantings.
Admission is $7.50 for adults, $6.00 for students and seniors, and $4.00 for children ages 2-12. Parking is free and is adjacent to the Conservatory. Hours vary by day of week. Consult website for details.
