The local Cooperative has several sightseeing ocean trips available at very favorable prices (compared to those arranged by the Four Seasons resort or tours out from Puerto Vallarta).  1)  Trips to the Marietta Islands, which are unspoiled and protected.  The islands have beautiful scenery, great snorkeling with many tropical fish and are populated with several types of birds including the blue-footed b_ooby (Sula nebouxi) found in greatest numbers here and in the Galapagos islands.  2)  Whale watching of humpback whales that come to the south to give birth.  The season is Nov 15th to Mar 15th. Often groups of whales can be seen with their young. 3) Sport fishing.  Common fish are sea bass, mahi mahi and red snapper plus many, many others.  The bay is bountiful.  The cooperative is called "Sociedad Cooperativa de Servicios Turisticos".  It is on El Anclote Beach, Av El Anclote, Manzana 17#1, Corral del Risco, Punta Mita, Nayarit. This is the blue-footed b_ooby.  They are called b_oobies because of their antics. The word b_ooby is supposed to derive from the Spanish word "Bobo" for clown.
