As an outdoors resort town, Blowing Rock is not exactly acclaimed for its nightlife.  Even so, it would be worth noting the number of activities from which residents and visitors can choose to best occupy their nighttimes.

Christopher's Wine & Cheese shop is one place open when many shops have closed and has themed wine flights available every day, whenever they are open.  There are also weekly wine & food pairing classes held weekly, check their website for which classes are available during your stay.

Certain restaurants in the area are open quite late, serving quality food and drink into the night.  Ciao Bello, though not a local favorite,  closes at eleven and offers wine, pasta, and sushi.

Storie Street Grille...great food and nice atmosphere.

Twigs is a good place to go for good food....then stay afterwards for the bar atmosphere...they even have music on some nights.

Six Pence Pub is right in the middle of downtown, and offers an intimate atmosphere. Try the burbon pecan pie.

Canyons Restaurant has the best views in the area, great food, and live music on the weekends. In the summer you can eat outside on the deck - in the winter, cozy up inside in a booth. Just follow Hwy 321 South a mile or two past the Shoppes on the Parkway, and it's on your right. It's in the middle of a curve, so just pull on in to the parking lot for a great view - or some great food!

Another GREAT place is the Gamekeeper Restaurant.  It is a little way out of town, but take a cab....the drinks are awesome.  They have "game" features on their menu as well as "normal" food.  You may noy be too keen on trying it at first, but the food is AMAZING...well worth going to. Beautiful restaurant with a great view.

If you have either a designated driver or a nearby hotel reservation, a trek to the Boone Saloon ensures a decent live music experience, as does the Louisiana Purchase, a Banner Elk center of wine and jazz.

Lastly, if you're looking for a fun casual atmosphere Mellow Mushroom is not to be missed. With pizza staples like pepperoni or creative combinations like their Cosmic Karma, you won't be disappointed. Build your own, buy by the slice or even try their salads or sandwiches. Don't forget to order a beer with your pie - a few good ones are on tap.
