Rochester is a great place to visit in any season.  It has a beautiful, clean sandy beach on Lake Ontario at Charlotte.  The weather in July is usually dry and in the 80's.  The water temperature in July is usually in the low 70's.   May can start out cool but you hit the 70's by the end and June is generally nice and in the 70's.  August can be warm & humid and may have more thunder showers.  Summer brings many golfers to over 80 public courses around the area.  The Fall weather cools us shortly after Labor Day but seeing the leaves change colors on a crisp sunny 60 degree day can be beautiful.  Fall is a great time to visit the Finger Lakes wine country nearby. the second largest grap growing region in the country.

If you want snow you will usually have to wait until December.  Then you will have it off and on right through the beginning of March.  There are ski areas near Rochester that make snow and you can usually find a good place to ski within an hour of here.  Sledding hills are all close by in Rochester's 12,000 acres of county parks.   If you visit in the Spring (March through May) be prepared for any type of weather.  I think we get our most rain then too.  In the Spring and Fall Rochester can be 30 degrees one day and 75 2-3 days later.  Some days even have a 30 degree swing from morning to afternoon.  One site to check is www.visitrochester.com
