If one is into relentless sunshine, then Ithaca weather is pretty lousy.  There are more cloudy days here of any U.S. city except Seattle.  If you are going to visit, the summer and fall are probably the best bets.   Ithaca is south of Buffalo and Rochester, so it doesen't get "lake effect snow". The result is snowfall of only 80 inches per year, which isn't bad for upstate New York. On the other hand, winter sports -- skiing, ice skating, hockey -- are big here. The winter can have a mix of rain and snow througout.  The spring can be mighty wet as well.

Not to despair though.  When the weather is good, Ithaca is a beautiful place.
