Was in Las Vegas the last week of Sept. and decided to stay away from the strip as much as possible, so rented a car and saw all the
stuff you read about[ Red Rock , Vally of Fire, the speedway, etc] and ate at the off strip restaurants, shopped at the mall's the locals shop at and
traveled through some real nice neighbour hoods. When stopped for lunch asked abought the local Zoo because there is no mention of it
at any of the hotels and the server just laughed and told us to save our time and money because all they have are a couple of chickens and some
goats. Try to visit a zoo in every place ,small towns and large citys, and some will blow you away and others are a real disappointment.I know
there are people out there that have a hard time with zoo's but they have there place and we enjoy them and if there is something wrong it is
brought to the attention of the proper people.Have done it before and will do so in the future.
The Las Vegas Zoo, should say the Zoo in Las Vegas because they are not funded by the city or the state and rely soley on donations ,
fundraisers and gate admission. The Zoo is small [aprox 3 acres ] but is very clean. The animals look very healthy and active and they have a
good assortment from chickens to lions.they have a reptile house and a petting zoo for the kids. Wish the lady that served lunch would have
been more positive about something that should be supported by the locals and goverment so the residence of Vegas can take ther children to
see animals up close and not just in books and it's a real shame that a large percentage of persons in Vegas don't even know there is a Zoo .
So if your in Vegas and had enough of the strip, take a day off rent a car and see the other side of Vegas you will be glad you did.
Address for the Zoo is 1775 N RANCHO DR.
