Surrounded by gently rolling terrain, Kansas City is located in the southern plains of the United States. It is situated on the south bank of the Missouri River at the Missouri-Kansas state line. Winter brings frequent and rapid fluctuations in weather and temperature with both mild days and cold days, along with streches of both wet and dry weather. Most snow falls in January and Februrary, and is genrally wet and melts off fast. Summer is characterized by hot, humid days and warm nights with frequent thunderstorms that generally pop up during the heat of the day in the afternoon and clear out by evening. Fall is generrally mild and dry except during active hurricane season in the Gulf of Mexico, which will can bring lots of rain and flooding. Spring is mosly mild though severe weather outbreaks are common.
