There are several periodicals in Kansas City that keep its readers updated on the latest national news and local events. The Kansas City Star is the city’s main daily newspaper. The Metro Voice, which comes out monthly, caters to the region’s Christian readers. There is also a weekly Business Journal, which covers mostly regional business events but also has a section for national happenings. The bilingual publication, Dos Mundos, offers news stories, events calendars and classifieds sections in English and Spanish. There is even a journal for the LGBT community called Camp.

A few publishing companies such as Insiders’ Guide and Rand McNally also sell guidebooks to the city. If you want to learn more about Kansas City history, there is Kansas City: Then and Now by Monroe Todd, who selected a collection of old photos from city archives and set them side-by-side with pictures of the same locations as they look today. There are also numerous books about Kansas City culture, from barbeque cooking to jazz. Above all, you’ll find books devoted to the city’s past and present sports teams such as the Chiefs, Royals, and Monarchs.
