Vineyard Haven, on Martha’s Vineyard, is the perfect place to indulge in all sorts of outdoor activities. Take a tour of the island on bicycle or by car; bikes can be rented or bought from Craig’s Bicycles (344 State Road, 508-693-8693), Martha’s Bike Rentals (4 Lagoon Pond Road, 508-693-6593), Cycle Works (351 State Road, 508-693-6966) and MV Strictly Bikes (508-693-0782), all located within Vineyard Haven. Walking is also popular, since the scenic island has some excellent nature trails, particularly in the Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary in Edgartown and the Polly Hill Arboretum in West Tisbury. Yet another way to get around while having fun is on horseback; however, the farms that rent out horses and equestrian equipment are mainly located in West Tisbury. There is Arrowhead Farm on Indian Hill Road, Crow Hollow Farm on Tiah’s Cove Road, and Red Pony Farm on Edgartown-West Tisbury Road.

For other enjoyable sports, try boating or fishing in the harbor at Vineyard Haven. Done Deal Charters (508-693-5245) offers guided fishing trips, while A-1 Martha’s Vineyard OceanSports at the Pier 44 Marina sells and rents a variety of equipment for water sports. Golf, another popular sport, can be enjoyed at the Mink Meadows Golf Course on Golf Club Road, off Franklin Street. The miniature version can be found at Island Cove Mini Golf on State Road. For more conventional sports and athletic activities, try one of Vineyard Haven’s fitness centers, such as Curves (395 State Road, 508-696-3030), the Mansion House Health Club, Spa & Pool (9 Main Street, 508-693-7400) or the Vineyard Pilates Center (Woodland Business Center on State Road, 508-696-6452). Kayaking is another way to enjoy the waters of the island and appreciate its beauty. Island Spirit Kayak (508.693.9727) offers tours in the various ponds and chops in Vineyard Haven as well as a sunset paddle ending with hor'duerves as the sun goes down. Wind's Up(508.693.4340) in Vineyard Haven offer kayak rentals for those with experience.
