Sandwich is a location which is excellent for families interested in exploring a new area together.  The beaches offer an excellent outdoor experience for children of all ages, the museums offer an interactive method of learning about the area, and the town offers activities specifically geared towards kids for those times when the standard attractions just aren’t cutting it.

The first thing which families traveling together should do is to take advantage of the beautiful beaches of the area.   Sandy Neck Beach ( http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction... ) is a popular choice but Scusset Beach State Reservation offers better swimming for families with children who are young.  See http://www.clickcapecod.com/content.a... for additional beach information.

When travelers are ready to head indoors with the kids, they should make their way to the area’s museum.  One which is particularly enjoyed by families is the Thornton W. Burgess Museum which features the works of the famous children’s author.  See http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g41... for additional museum information.

Another place worth checking out is the Sandwich Fish Hatchery.  Kids get a kick out of seeing the fish here and even have a chance to feed them.  Information about this and other wildlife activities throughout the Cape Cod region can be learned about at http://www.insidecapecod.com/main-kid... .

When the kids just aren’t being entertained by the local activities, there is always the option of heading over the local miniature golf spot.   See http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction... for details.

On a rainy day, if you head up to South Yarmouth (a quick 15 minute ride) you can go to Bonkerz Party Zone which has an indoor playground, games, kids rock wall etc.  The kids love it there and it is inexpensive.  See http://bonkerzpartyzone.com/ for more details.  Another great place to check out close by is the Cape Cod Children's Museum in Mashpee (just a few minutes from Sandwich).  See http://www.capecodchildrensmuseum.org/ for details.  Lastly, there are several playgrounds in Sandwich and nearby Mashpee.  A favorite is on Quaker Meetinghouse Road by the Oak Ridge Elementary School.  It has three playgrounds in one (for young walkers, toddlers and older children) plus swings.
