Hammond castle was built by
John Hays Hammond Jr.
inventor of the remote control. The castle is a place to house a unique collection of medieval artifacts. In fact, the building itself contains a garden room built from the facades of storefront of a medieval french village, and an archway which was once part of a church and built from carved lava from Mt. Vesusvius. In the great hall, you will find a skull from one of Columbus' shipmates. Even the floors and ceilings in most rooms are over 500 years old. The round library is a must see, and while touring the castle, look out for secret passageways.
