Whether you want to keep fit while visiting Chatham, or need to walk off all those lobster rolls, there are many options in town and around. Most quality hotels these days provide fitness rooms with treadmills, bicycles, and weights, and a mirror to watch yourself sweat.

Nickerson State Park in nearby Brewster is a 1,900-acre pine tree-wooded wonderland with trails for hiking, horseback riding, biking, and running. Though not far from the ocean, the landscape is different enough to make you forget where you are, although there is beach, fishing, and nonmotorized boat access. If you like camping or RVing, the park has 420 sites and all the amenities. Call for reservations, though.

The Ocean Edge Resort and Club in Brewster has 11 tennis courts, an 18-hole PGA championship golf course, six pools, and a fitness center. It also offers lodging, meeting facilities, and a private beach.

The Cape Cod Melody Tent hosts several sports events, including World Class Championship Boxing and World Wrestling Entertainment. For tickets to these and other offerings, visit the Cape Melody Tent website.

Rather be a beach potato? Then bring your laptop and listen to the baseball games played (and hopefully won) by the Chatham Athletics, one of the officially sanctioned summer league teams of the Cape Cod Baseball League. If youd rather cheer on the A's yourself stroll on over to Veterans Field just before the rotary in downtown Chatham. Veterans Field has been the home of the A's since 1923 and is packed with locals and tourists alike who want to catch a good old game of baseball!

Or you can rent a boat or hire a boat and driver and watch one of the several year-round racing regattas.
