The weather along the coast of Maryland is pretty moderate all year long. Even during the summer months temperatures stay comfortable thanks to cool breezes from the Atlantic Ocean. Average temperatures in July range from the mid-60s (Fahrenheit) to the high 80s. In January, temperatures range from about 25 to 40 degrees. Overall annual precipitation is about 43 inches, with about 15 inches of snow each year.

Saint Michaels is considered a resort town, and gets most of its visitors during the summer, when beaches, restaurants and hotels can get a bit crowded. Consider going right before or after the peak season, in May or September, to find thinner crowds and more affordable rates. The weather is still very comfortable and the amenities are still open. This is also a good time for those interesting in boating and fishing.

Keep in mind that Saint Michaels hosts the annual Mid-Atlantic Maritime Festival the third weekend each May. The town fills up quickly during this three-day festival as visitors and locals come together to celebrate the area’s maritime history. It’s a fun time to be in town, but be prepared for crowds and book your accommodations far in advance.
