Boothbay Harbor is an active community known for their love of sailing, seafood, and all that has to do with the water. This four season climate sees some big sea storms, snowstorms, unpredictable springs, hot summers, and gorgeous autumns. Each season sees festivities for the locals and tourists lucky to be there during that time; the most of course, taking place over the summer.

The summer has a lot of people out and about in Boothbay Harbor, the locals are actively outdoors as are the tourists. You can also plan around some fun festivals over the summer. In mid June is "Boothbay in Bloom" and there is a celebration of food and music concerts, boat trips and tours of the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardensin celebration of the arrival of summer at full-force.   Windjammer Days Festival takes place in late June and includes concerts, boat parades, Coast Guard vessel tours, food, fireworks, and more. Mid-July sees the Boothbay Harbor Jazz Weekend and fills the city with soulful sounds. June also sees the Lobster Boat Races which is a true specialty of this area.

Early October has a Fall Foliage Festival to celebrate autumn. Classic American dishes are a part of the celebration as are music, entertainment, and steam-train rides.

But winter is not without its festival; the Harbor Lights Festival honors Christmas with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a lighted boat parade, and more cheerful merriment.
