The Shaw Center for the Arts

Blending majestically into the Louisiana skyline, and sited parallel to the Mississippi River, the Shaw Center for the Arts is a major show place for the city of Baton Rouge. It is a shiny silver building chocked full of art exhibits, performing venues and cafes. The glimmering structure is home to the Brunner Gallery, the LSU Museum of Art, the Manship Theatre, the LSU School of Art Gallery, PJ’s Coffee House and Wine Bar, Capital City Grill and Tsumani, a Japanese restaurant. The Center also is an educational center with classrooms for music, art and literature.

Since its grand opening in March 2005, the Shaw Center for the Arts has brought an infusion of entertainment and culture to the community. Touted for its intimacy and great acoustics, the Manship Theatre seats 300 plus patrons and is designed to replicate London’s “West End” space. It is a venue where one can take in a play, concert or dance revue. The LSU School of Art Gallery showcases the work of students and faculty of Louisiana State University. The LSU Museum of Art features permanent collections and traveling exhibitions, in a large state of the art facility. For information on performances and exhibits contact (225)346-5001.
