Louisville is full of history, culture, good food and good times...and also a fun place to shop!

There are several neighborhoods that house funky little stores that are fun to browse and may turn up a bargain...or something you didn't know you needed or wanted until you saw it! One such area is the Highlands neighborhood.

Located in eastern Jefferson County, the Highlands is an eclectic area full of interesting sights, sounds & shopping. For a unique shopping experience, go to Edenside Gallery at 1422 Bardstown Road. Full of art, jewelry and other items to delight, many of the pieces found in Edenside Gallery are by local artists. You'll find many one of a kind and interesting gifts, so allow some time to look around! Another Highlands treat is the Swanson Reed Gallery, located at 1377 Bardstown Road, another fun place to browse for art, jewelry and other treasures. If you're in need of a good read, check out Carmichael's Books (http://www.carmichaelsbookstore.com/), an independant bookseller that may be found at 1295 Bardstown Road. A comfortable shop that's full of everything from the newest bestsellers to books on local history, it also connects to one of the three Heine Brothers Coffee shops located in the Highlands...some of the nieghborhood's most popular hangouts! The place to go for antiques is European Antique Market at 933 Barret Ave. They import from France and have a large selection of furniture, architectural items, chandeliers and garden items. You'll think you have been transported to the French countryside while browsing the store. You can check out their website and blog at European Antique Market. This place is tres chic!

These are just a few of the many fun shopping establishments to be found in the Highlands...come by and see for yourself!
