A striking wall of green glass with etched names on it sits along the canal in downtown
Indianapolis, called the
Congressional Medal of Honor Memorial. It glows in the dark and just before dusk, you will hear the voices of some of the bravest Americans in military history share their stories of battle and survival.

The memorial pays tribute to 3,459 recipients for their military valor and is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force. Search the memorial's glass walls to find names of heroes from 15 conflicts dating back to the Civil War.
The memorial is made up of 27 curved glass walls, which are 7-10 feet high. It is located on the north side of the canal between the water and Military Park - just across from the Indiana State Museum.
Indianapolis is second only to Washington, DC in having the most monuments and memorials honoring America's veterans.
