The Blackhawk Steak Pit (1429 N Il Route 2 (815) 732-2500 is a marvelous place, featuring prime meats cooked to your specifications and to perfection, and excellent seafood including lobster, a salad bar, a wide range of appetizers, terrific side dishes, and Greek specialties including Saganaki. The portions are large, and the hospitality can be felt from the moment you're greeted by John or Peter, the owners, at the front door. It's a bigtime establishment you would not expect to find in a small town, and once you've eaten there, you will be looking for excuses to return. Great bar, and a respectable wine list. The atmosphere is homey, with overstuffed chairs and friendly staff catering to your every whim. If you are undecided you can ask Peter to make you something special - and you won't be disappointed.
