There are quite a few neighborhoods unique to Tampa. In the city here are a few:
Hyde Park - One of Tampas first neighborhoods, just southwest of downtown. You have Bayshore Blvd mansions on the East, with turn of the century bungalows and palatial mansions throughout this historic section. Drive on any street south of Swann Ave near Olde Hyde Park Village(a shopping and restaurant area within the district), to take in a feel of this neighborhood.
SOHO - South Howard Avenue is where there has been a resurgance of unique shops and restaurants.
Bayshore Beautiful - no trip to Tampa is complete without a bike ride, run, rollerblade, or drive down Bayshore Blvd. Just south of Bay to Bay Blvd is the section Bayshore Blvd. Older homes mixed in with newer rebuilds. The areas of Bay to Bay Blvd and MacDill Avenue has lots of uniques restaurants(Byblos Cafe, Pane Rustica)
Ybor City - the Historic District and where Tampa got its start in the 1800’s. Day time for Museums, restaurants and festivals, nightime for party central.
Channelside - another resurgance in this neighborhood, you will find the FLorida Aquarium, Channelside Entertainment Complex, Tampa Trolley, USS Vicotory, Tampa Port Tours, Tampa City Duck Tours, and the Forum, amongst many artist’s lofts and new high rise condos.
Check out Harbour Island, a unique concept that started in the early 1980’s on what was once landfill, and now comprises of some of the most expensive residences. Jacksons Waterfront Restaurant has great views on the water of donwtown.
Davis Islands - mostly all man made islands, with a lot of character and the best dog beach. Main Street boasts some local favorite restaurants like 220 East, Yeomans Pub, Estellas Mexican and Islands Pizza.
