Traveler's Alert- Super Bowl Hotel Availability
Travelers wishing to come to the Greater Ft. Lauderdale area in late January or early February of 2010should be aware that Super Bowl 2010 has caused a severe shortage of hotel accomodations in the area. The Super Bowl will be played on Sunday, February 7, but the time immediately before that date will be impacted as well.
Most hotels are already showing no available rooms . The few that have availability tend to be of poor standard, poorly located or extremely overpriced for their quality. Rental cars, restaurants, and public transportation will be severly strained as well.
It would be best to avoid coming to this area in late January or early February unless you already have arranged accomodations. Cruise passengers should probably accept any pre or post cruise accomodation and transfer packages offered by their cruise line, as no other options will likely be available.
The Stadium is located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, so the cities of Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pompano Beach and Miami will all feel severe pressure on all their tourist facilitiies as more than 100,000 fans, press and associated visitors will be coming to this area for the Game and the activities in the days preceeding it.
