You might be visiting Cape Canaveral as part of a vacation cruise – many cruise lines use Port Canaveral as a starting cruise point – but few people make Cape Canaveral a destination on its own. It’s usually a quick stop on the way to somewhere else.

If you’re visiting Orlando and decide to make the trek to Cape Canaveral, there are a few ways to get here. It’s about 45 minutes from Orlando to Cape Canaveral, so your visit to the space center can be an easy day trip from the more busy goings-on in Orlando. Make Cape Canaveral a wind down day, and you’re sure to enjoy it.

So, how do you get to Cape Canaveral? The best option is a car. If you flew to Orlando and didn’t rent a car, you could now, just for the day Head back to the airport, or find a car rental facility near your hotel and just rent a car for the day so you can get in and out of Cape Canaveral on your own schedule, not the schedule of a tour operator or bus company.

If you don’t want to drive, there are plenty of Kennedy Space Center tour buses that depart regularly from Orlando to Cape Canaveral. Be sure to make note of any rules and regulations set forth by the tour operator and make note of how much time you’ll have at the space center, so you know ahead of time what to expect.

You can always hire a private transportation service (car service) from Orlando airport to Port Canaveral cruise terminals and back:
