South Florida provides a plethora of opportunities to experience the performing arts, with Boca Raton representing a very small portion of these. But even in Boca alone you can see some excellent theater, hear live music, or take in a ballet.

To find out about upcoming events you can call the Palm Beach County Cultural Council information line at 800 882-ARTS: during their business hours someone can give you details on current events/performances, while after hours there is a recorded message outlining events of the week. Also check the Boca News or the Sun-Sentinel for events listings.

Some ideas inclue:

The Boca Ballet Theatre  - this can be an especially excellent and entertaining night out. Boca Ballet presents four major productions each season: The Nutcracker, a full-length story ballet, and two repertory performances. They are a civic company, meaning that they do not have permanent professional dancers, but rather they hire professionals to perform principal and solo roles. This does not mean that it is not worth going to see the Boca Ballet -- on the contrary, they hire extraordinary professionals, and there is a respect for dance and feeling of fun and enjoyment embedded in the Theatre. If you enjoy ballet, or even theater in general, then you will almost definitely find a night with Boca Ballet to be well worth your while (and not too expensive, to boot!).
