Wilmington is located approximately halfway between New York and Washington, DC, about 100 miles from each. National and international accessibility is easy via Philadelphia’s International Airport, the Greater Wilmington Airport, and Amtrak’s East Coast line. The International Airport, about 20 minutes away on 1-95, offers an extensive schedule of flights. The other airport, just 5 miles from the downtown center, provides private aircraft and charters. Taking the train to and from the city is also easy and convenient. More than 70 trains pass through daily, and the station is set in the beautiful Riverfront area, which offers plenty of shops and eateries, and easy access to local taxis and busses. In addition, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority's (SEPTA) R2 train line runs from Philadelphia's 30th Street Station Monday through Saturday, with stops in Claymont, Wilmington, Churchman's Crossing (by Delaware Park) and Newark. Wilmington is also linked to the entire East Coast by three major interstate highways—1-95, 1-495, and 1-295—and the New Jersey Turnpike/Delaware Memorial Bridge.
