The Bushnell theatre is Hartford's premier theatre destination. Many traveling productions of popular Broadway shows stop in Hartford. Some shows that have played the Bushnell include: Mamma Mia, WICKED, Golda's Balcony and The Lion King. Tickets are cheaper then on Broadway with Front Mezzanine and Orchestra ticket prices ranging from $79 on weeknights to $84 on weekends.  Also at the Bushnell is the Connecticut Forum. The Connecticut forum brings togather well known people in panel disussions.  Past themes have been: The Simpsons, Noble Prize winners. etc.

Besides offering an assortment of productions, the Bushnell also offers free "Behind the Scenes" tours of the mostly Art Deco performing arts center.  The tours provide a detailed history of the Bushnell and also allow visitors to explore areas that are usually not available to the public.  Tours include the green room, the electricians room and its many famous autographs, and the projection room which is five stories above the theaters.  With each tour visitors also experience the excitement of walking onto the stage of both of the theaters and get an up close view of the magnificent glass sculpture "Ode to Joy" designed by the renowned artist Dale Chihuly.   Call the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts to arrange a tour.
