The San Miguel River gathers its strength high above Telluride, Colorado in the breathtaking San Juan Mountains.   This fast flowing river with its continuous class II+ rapids ("splashes") and intermittent class III ("wet and fun") is an action packed one to three day adventure for ages 10 and up.  Requiring both attentive and active  paddling. This narrow, twisting unspoiled wilderness river canyon provides the visually striking scenery of deep green pine filled Colorado mountainside with contrasting red rock walls. As you enter the wilderness of Norwood Canyon, the rapids become more defined and offer a few more paddling breaks.  If you opt for the very popular option of a two or three day campouts, you will be treated to isolated wilderness camping under towering ponderosa pines.  Hike, explore, relax and spend quality time with your family and friends without the interruptions of everyday life. Not only will the scenic beauty of the river canyon captivate you, but the fast paced water will energize you as well! Depending on the water levels the San Miguel can move you down stream as many as 20 miles per day (be prepared to paddle 4-5 hours)!
