There’s plenty to do in Durango after dark. Several good nights can be had at the historic Strater Hotel on Main Avenue . The Office Spiritorium has great drinks and live entertainment and the Mahogany Grille has a whole menu of original martinis. The best time, however, is at the Strater’s Diamond Belle Saloon, an original Wild West ragtime piano bar that features great entertainers, including bartenders and can-can girls. During the summer, stay for the Diamond Circle Melodrama, complete with evil villain and damsel in distress, plus a vaudeville review with singing, dancing and comedy.

For a live Western stage show and a hearty BBQ supper, head to Bar D Chuckwagon Suppers . Open all summer, guests get a traditional chuckwagon meal with all the fixings, and a live western music cowboy show, complete with fiddle, flatpick guitar, mandolin bass, terrific singers, and comedy, as well. Feel free to tour the spread, which includes an Old West town with a leather shop, blacksmith shop, and a miniature train ride.

For great live blues, the Scoot ‘N Blues Café and Lounge is the place to be. On Main Avenue , it has everything from great music to delicious dining to lively dancing. Another place worth checking out is Abbey Theatre , for a variety of live entertainment, such as live music and avent-garde films. Finally, if you’re willing to drive for about half an hour, you can gamble the night away at the Sky Ute Casino, in nearby Ignacio.
