The expansive Gunnison National Forest is home to Crested Butte Mountain Resort Ski Area and in non-winter months offers extensive hiking and mountain biking trails. Rafting, Kayaking and Boating on Big Blue Mesa

Whitewater enthusiasts in rafting and kayaking have been coming to run local rivers and streams for years. The Gunnison River Valley is said to be one of Colorado ’s wettest, which means lots of whitewater fun for you, your friends and family. Try the Taylor River for class III and IV whitewater or the Gunnison River for a more gentle ride through Class II. River trips range from half day to full day excursions and can include lunch. There are trips suitable for all ages using a variety of local outfitters to get you set up. 

Bring your own toys or stop by the Elk Creek Marina in the Currecanti National Recreation Area and rent pontoon boats, fishing boats and ski boats to enjoy time on Colorado's largest body of water with over 92 miles of scenic shoreline. The Blue Mesa within the Currecanti National Recreation Area offers spectacular rock formations and interesting geography as you venture up secluded canyons.
