Breckenridge - Mid April 2009

Breckenridge is a beautiful ski town.  Accommodations are easy to obtain, for example, via vrbo.com or summitvacations.net.  For example, a mid April rate in Powder Ridge 2-bedroom condo with a loft is around $145/night.  Such condos are typically equipped as a second residence, with books, games, and even sleds ready to be used.  Near the Powder Ridge area, there is a park perfect for sledding.  Kids and even adults can stay there for hours just sledding!!

The town has free shuttles everywhere.  The routes are color coded so know your route color.  To go skiing, one can easily take a free shuttle.  To Peak 9 ski lifts, one can take the free shuttle and right where one is dropped off, ski rentals are available.  The child ski rental with helmet is $15.00/day.  The adult's is approx $25.  The ski lift at Peak 9 is $31 for the child (the afternoon only lift ticket), the adults approx around $75.00 (afternoon only).

Breckenridge is different from Vail, since the houses are really not around the ski lift.  If anyone has been in Big Bear in California, it is similar to that.

If going in early to mid April, expect that some of the shops will be closed.  But many will be open.

For anyone just passing by, take the gondola up to the top of the lift. You are able to stop at various peaks along the way.  Parking at the area near the gondola.  Parking in the various peaks are not allowed.  So park near the gondola.
