Holder's Country Inn.  2 locations (998 S De Anza Blvd & Saratoga Ave (at Country Ln))  The De Anza Blvd restaurant was formerly a multi-generation landmark at Town & Country Shopping Plaza at Stevens Creek and Winchester Blvd before the new Santana Row bulldozed its way into existence. A second location is on Saratoga Ave (at Country Ln) in San Jose.  Be prepared for lines on weekends.

Bill of Fare.  1005 Saratoga Ave.  cash only.  besides the usual omelette fillings, some unique ones:  crab, zucchini, tofu

Hobee's.  680 River Oaks Pkwy.  This is a part of a chain of restaurants all about the South Bay.

Hilton Garden Inn.  American Grill (city of Mountain View).  840 E El Camino Rl, MV.  Excellent

Country Gourmet (city of Mountain View).  Rengstorff Ave at El Camino Rl, MV. 

Southern Kitchen (city of Los Gatos).  Be prepared for very long lines on weekends.

Original Pancake House for pancakes made with real butter and served with real maple syrup. 2 locations: 2306 Almaden Road #150 408/979-0251 or 1366 S. DeAnza Blvd. 408/255-7373. Locations in Fremont and Los Altos, too.

Maple Leaf Donuts.  (2 locations.  6473 Almaden Expressway and 1110 Saratoga Ave)

Peter's Bakery.  Alum Rock Rd at White Rd.   Best donuts in San Jose since 1936!

Lou's Living Donut Museu (closed).  1955-2006 RIP.  387 Delmas Ave.  Hopefully they will come back to life.  They used real lard.
