No trip to Pasedena can be complete without visiting the Henry E. Huntington's San Marino villa built in 1911. Citizen Kane could have been filmed in this 55,000 sq. ft. mansion. The Huntington Art Gallery includes Gainsborough's Blue Boy and Lawrence's Pinki. The botanical gardens consist of a Japanese Garden, fabulous rose garden, and a Cacti Desert that may contain more cacti than in the Arizona desert. Don't miss the library where you can see an original Gutenberg Bible and also the Ellesmere manuscript of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. There is a free audio tour of the Huntington Art Gallery that takes between 1-1/2 to 2 hours for the highlights. Admission is more on weekends but there are senior and student discounts. It's impossible to see everything in one afternoon so it's a place worth a return visit. http://www.huntington.org
