Pacific Grove is a town for walking. The Asilomar Conference Grounds whose architect was Julia Morgan who did Hearst Castle is a great place to start. Go into reception and sit by the fire, walk to the chapel and various buildings on the site. Then, walk down to the beach and let the waves lap over your toes. Having a picnic there is even better. Walk the Pacific Grove downtown and find a great place for lunch or dinner. Get a map at the Visitors' Center and walk or drive up and down the streets lined with summer cottages of the Methodists who came in the late 1880's to stay in tents and then built the cottages. Note names and year built on many cottages. Find the Chautauqua Hall that presented educational, cultural, and musical events in the Chautauqua tradition in those early years. Walk to and around the lighthouse and see if you see the deer on the golf course nearby. Walk the trail that edges the bay. A picnic at Lover's Pt. or anywhere along the path will relax you. You'll enjoy every minute in a beautiful village by the sea.
