MONA's most recent show, "LUMINESCENCE," "TRAVELING LIGHT," "TRAVELING STILL" and "GLOWING STONES" opened November 15 and featured 2 group exhibits, photographs by Rob Carter and minerals that fluoresce from the collection of Jan Wittenberg. The show runs through March 15, 2009.
MONA continues to offer its two neon cruises - guided tours of LA's historic neon in an open-top double decker bus. There are two versions of the cruise - the classic version which starts downtown and runs through Hollywood, and the Poet's Beat Cruise, with Mike the Poet, featuring music, spoken word and stops at 3 of LA's famous literary watering holes. MONA's live music event, First Friday, happens on the first Friday of every month at 8:00 pm and features musicians who take MONA's extensive collection of rare and unusual neon art, and use it as a musical launching pad for electronic and acoustic improvisations. Admission is $10 at the door, free for MONA members.
