Earthquakes:

One of the largest threats to the Carlsbad area is the possibility of an earthquake. While it's extremely uncommon for a major earthquake to strike, and the likelihood that one would occur while a person is on vacation in Carlsbad, it's always a good idea to be aware of what is needed after an earthquake. If everyone present in the city knows what to do in case of an emergency, it's possible that lives and property might be saved.

Tourists and/or visitors should always try to have food and water on hand for each person in the group, just in case food and water are not available for a few days after an earthquake.

Make sure to travel with a first-aid kit. This is a good idea no matter where a vacation is being taken!

It's always a good idea to carry a little bit of cash at all times, just in case things can't be purchased with a credit card.

Bringing along extra medication so that if a prescription runs out, visitors will not be without medication for an extended period of time.

Wildfires:

Some people travel to Carlsbad to camp, and for these people, it's important to remember that fire safety in the wilderness is essential. It's not good to go on a camping vacation and accidentally start a wildfire. Therefore, it's essential that smart fire-safety rules are followed.
