Spring and Fall are definitely the best times to visit Fayetteville, with average high temperatures in the 70s.  The fall color is very striking in the hills around town, so it's hard to go wrong with a visit in September or October.

Fayetteville winters are fairly mild, with temperatures never staying below freezing for long.  There are usually a few snow accumulations each winter, but again they don't stick around for more than a few days.  But because of the melting, ice can be a problem for a few days after a big winter storm.

Summers are warm, with average high temperatures around 90 degrees fahrenheit.  Highs can often get over 100 degrees in July and August, with humidity near 100 percent.  During the summer it is best to follow the Southern tradition and move as little as possible and sit on a shady porch outside.
