While researching a trip to Sedona, Green Jeep Tours (greenjeeptours@live.com) was discovered. It's a little advertised company specializing in personalized tours of the Red Rock country in and around Sedona. This guy can take you out in a jeep, rock climbing, horseback riding or hiking! The guide is very knowledgeable of the culture, history, and nature of the area! It's an expensive luxury ($300/hr!) yet worth every penny spent. Before arrival, a list of places to go and see was worked out. Once there, all travel plans and tours were discussed and confirmed.
The tour included the Broken Arrow (not for the faint of heart!) and several other rugged 4x4 trails, cliff dwellings with ancient petroglyphs and rock art in Palatki and Honanki, a tour of the Verde Valley and Coconino National Forest and Schnebly Hill. The set up allows one to ask questions, self-pace and, explore as interested. The company provided meals, snacks, blankets, water and everything else needed. It's so much more satisfactory than one of the group tours where they only allow short visits or stops! This company is definitely recommended to anyone who can afford it.
