Phoenix, Arizona

A Thriving Metropolis

Despite a lack of prior planning for ingress and egress on the west side of the city, which leaves motorists in stop and go traffic during most of the day, the tourist/traveler will be well rewarded once there.  There is truly something here for everyone.  Museums, amusement parks, water parks, architecture, shopping, hiking, climbing, fine dining, golf, baseball and just plain relaxing are all offered.  The suburbs of Cave Creek and Carefree provide an Old West atmosphere and the accompanying period dining.  Hot air balloon companies can offer a breath-taking view of the city as nothing else can.  Tempe boasts a pizza parlor with one of the world's largest pipe organs.  The pizza is just as good as the music at Organ Stop Pizza.  The entire area is dotted by resort hotels which feature renowned golf courses.  Phoenix is home of the Arizona Diamondback baseball team.  Children of all ages will enjoy not only the Arizona Science Center, but Castles 'n Coasters for mini golf, roller coaster, and go cart rides.  Music fans can peruse the memorabilia on display at Alice Cooper's town restaurant in the downtown area.  A look at the Greater Phoenix map reveals several parks and recreation areas, within the city, which offer hiking and hill climbing, such as Piestewa Peak, and North Mountain Preserve.  Phoenix also boasts not only several art museums, but also a rock and mining museum.  Although the summer months may be scorchers, there are eight other months of gorgeous weather, which is one of the reasons why Phoenix is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States.
