Buenos Aires' night scene is comparable to that of the world's largest cities. Clubs and discos stay open until dawn and often do not get started until 1 or 2am. There are so many ways to have fun here and you'll notice that Argentinians love to party. To find out about everything that is happening on weekends check out Buenos Aires Herald's "getOut!" section and Clarin's Friday "Si!" pull-out.

If you want to catch a concert or other event at one of the major venues like Teatro Gran Rex, Paseo La Plaza, Centro Cultural Borges, check Ticketek for tickets. There are also agencies, carteleras, located throughout the city that offer last minute, discount tickets to the movies, the theater or tango shows.

You'll find that Mondays and Tudesdays are "slow" nights for the bar scene but the city more than compensates for this the rest of the week.

Wednesday "after work" happy hours are an institution in Buenos Aires. Many clubs offer discounted drinks beginning after work and extending to the wee hours of the morning. Museum in San Telmo is only one of many locations to see and be seen during "after work."

Here are some areas you can explore (take cabs, they're cheap!):

  • Palermo Viejo : go here for a neighborhood feel. There are plenty of restaurants and low key bars here. Few dance clubs
  • Costanera Norte: some of the restaurants here turn into clubs at night so have dinner and stay for a drink or two!
