The Johannesburg Lions Park, situated about 45 minutes away from Johannesburg by car, is a must see for all age groups. A quick round trip would take about 2 hours, but one can enjoy just as many hours inside the park if you have the time.

Starting with caged enclosures that you can walk into to pet and fondle small cubs - the guides give you precautionary tips on spotting signs of aggression, and do's and don'ts - you can also see ostriches, zebras and giraffes, and drive into enclosures of fully grown wild lions and lionesses. These wild cats could get as close as 2 feet from the car, so do keep the windows rolled up most of the way, and hands inside while clicking. Feeding time shows these lions in their ferocious best, but may not be a suitable sight for some.
Souvenir purchase, cafeteria's etc complete the fun experience.
