If you want to get off the beaten path--literally--in Juneau you may want to consider trying out one of the US Forest Service's public use cabins.  The Forest Service maintains five of these cabins in the Juneau area.  Each one sleeps between  6 - 8 people and costs $25 - $35 per night.  Three of the cabins are located at Point Bridget State Park, 39 miles north of Juneau.  Two more can be found at St. James Bay State Marine Park, 35 miles northwest of Juneau, and at the Oliver Inlet State Marine Park, 23 miles south of Juneau, respectively.  The latter two are accessible only by boat or bush plane.  To find out more about the cabins or to make a reservation visit The Alaska Department of Natural Resources .
