In spite of being Alaska's state capitol, Juneau is land-locked and has no access roads leading to major highways.  Getting to Juneau however is not difficult.  Through Alaska Airlines' regularly scheduled service visitors can get to Juneau in about two hours from Seattle or just 90 minutes from Anchorage.  The number of flights increases greatly during the summer months, up to 15 a day.  Check out Alaska Airlines' website for schedules.

Alaska's Marine Highway System is another easy way to get to Juneau.  Their ferry service takes passengers and cars to Juneau from Skagway and Haines in the North and Bellingham and Prince Rupert in the South.  Advance reservations are recommended.
