If you get tired of the beach and want to see more of the island, the Circle Island Tour may be just the day trip for you.  The trips are guided by native drivers, usually in Land Rovers or other four-wheel drive vehicles which can hold up to ten people.  Along the route guests are treated to a narrated tour of notable island sights such as the abandoned set of the Marlon Brando film, Mutiny on the Bounty, and tropical juice and liquor plantations where samples are available.  Native religious sites are also included.  The tour also highlights much of Moorea's natural beauty, with fantastic views of mountain waterfalls, native animals and birds, and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.  Some tours may even include short hikes to such sites.

One of the tour's highlights is Belvedere Point, a high vista overlooking much of the island, Opunohu Bay, Cook's Bay, and Mount Rotui.  A trip to a black pearl shop, one of the island's main exports, is also included, where visitors can purchase pearls and pearl jewelry.

This Circle Tour is offered by several tour companies.  Information and tickets about these tours is available at most hotels, resorts, and tourist centers.
