Tamarindo's number one activity is surfing, and there are few places in the world that offer such perfect conditions to learn to surf. The waves, while not huge, are very consistent and are ideal for first-timers. Many vacationers take a beginner surf lesson to get that "first wave thrill". For those looking for more convenience, complete surf packages are available with airport pickup/dropoff, daily surf lesson, accommodation in a nice condo or a luxary home, and daily breakfast.

If you want to learn to surf, learn right. Don't use the surf instructors roaming the beach. Here are general tips to get ready for any surf lesson.
