Arenal Volcano National Park has impressive views of Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal.  Parking is available at the park entrance, or you can drive up a short distance to be closer to the main trail.  There is an entrance fee to the park that is collected as you enter.  This is where you will receive your trail map.  After a short hike through the rainforest, you will come upon a sign marking the Lava Flow of 1992.  A lava staircase leads you up to an impressive site, a massive lava flow to hike over.  The terrain is quite rough and marked only by thin yellow poles to lead you to the other side.  Not many people can claim they have hiked over lava.  If you are up to the challenge, it is not to be missed.  (The park closes at 4pm.)
