No matter what your budget or tastes, Melaka has something for you in the way of shopping.  Whether you are interested in designer fashions, flea markets, street vendors, art and antiques, or t-shirts and souvenirs, the city has something for everyone.  Melaka's largest flea market, selling mostly used goods, is located on Jalan Hang Lekir and is open on Sundays until 3pm.  The merchants at this market sell all types of used items from books and magazines to clothing and household goods.

Another of Melaka's favorite shopping grounds are its large malls.  These shopping centers, often featuring large chain department stores, are popular with locals and tourists alike.  Visitors from nearby Singapore also come to these malls often to shop for clothing and home goods as the prices available in Melaka are much lower than in their own country.  One of the city's most popular malls, the Melaka Mall, features several shops, department stores, a bowling alley, and a movie theatre in addition to a hotel.

Opposite the Melaka Mall is another mall -  Mahkota Mall.  It has Starbucks with great coffee and free wifi - strong signal.  It also has a very good Nando's with good lunch specials.  The Darling Shoes & Fashion on the ground floor not far from Starbucks - it has glamorous sparkly shoes with elegant low heels (there are also higher heels for the younger ladies).  The shoes are sobeautiful and very reasonably priced.- only about $10 - 20 AUD.
