Shopping opportunities in Huntsville are growing significantly as the area's population expands.  There are currently two shopping malls in Huntsville:  the recently-renovated Madison Square Mall ( http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction... ), which includes a food court and arcade; and Parkway Place, formerly Parkway City Mall, which is more upscale and offers big name stores like Hollister, Williams-Sonoma, and Brookstone, plus Carrabba's restaurant.  Madison Square is located at the intersection of Research Park Boulevard (AL 255) and University Drive (US 72).  Parkway Place can be accessed from the Bob Wallace Ave. or Drake Ave. exits off South Memorial Parkway (US 231).

Two new major shopping areas are now under construction, both expected to be even more upscale, and cater to young professionals.  Bridge Street Huntsville is located at the intersection of Research Park Boulevard (AL 255) and Old Madison Pike.  Announced restaurants at Bridge Street include P.F. Chang's, Cantina Laredo, and Dolce.  Shops include Barnes & Noble, Apple, Fossil, and Lucky Brand.  An upscale bowling center and movie theater are also under construction at the same site.  Opening is slated for early fall 2007.

Constellation is under construction at the Clinton Avenue exit off South Memorial Parkway (US 231/US 431).  This is an upscale lifestyle center with residential, office, and retail.  Two Marriott hotels will also be located on the site.  Other retail has not yet been announced.

Travelers who want to do more unique shopping should start off in Downtown Huntsville.   This is the place where the bulk of interesting locally-owned shops are located.     The Railroad Antique Mall is a popular store where visitors go to pick up antiques as well as other specialty items.   See http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction... for more information. There are also numerous other stores in the area to choose from for different shopping experiences.   Simply browsing here is often great fun.   College students love to shop so the area around the university is another good location to check out.
