By plane:   Huntsville International Airport ( ) is the commercial airport serving the Huntsville metropolitan area.  Huntsville International is located approximately ten minutes from downtown, off Interstate 565, Exit 7.  Taxi service and rental car service are both available at the airport.  General aviation may also use the Madison County Executive Airport, located in Meridianville, about 15 minutes north of downtown, or at Pryor Field, located about 20 minutes west of downtown.

By car:  Huntsville is an easy car drive from most cities in the southeast.  It is located less than two hours from Birmingham, Nashville, and Chattanooga; and within five hours of Memphis, Atlanta, Louisville, and Knoxville.  Even travelers from New Orleans, Chicago, and Jacksonville can reach Huntsville in a day.  Interstate 65 touches the far west reaches of the Huntsville city limits, but its spur, Interstate 565, actually leads into, and through, the city.  Other major U.S. highways include US 231, US 431, and US 72.  Major state routes include AL 255, and AL 53.  Specific driving directions can be obtained from Google Maps ( ) or Mapquest (  ).   

By bus:  Greyhound bus service is available in Huntsville.  The bus station is located at 601 Monroe Street .  More information is available on the Greyhound website at .

By train:   Amtrak no longer provides service to Huntsville.  The nearest Amtrak stops are in Birmingham or Anniston.
