Visitors travel to Mumbai all year long, but the most popular months to travel to the area are October, November, December, January and February. The weather during these months is the coolest and breeziest, and tends to be the most pleasant. The temperature during the day is usually in the high 80s to low 90s (Fahrenheit) and at night in the 60s or 70s (Fahrenheit).
Beginning in the month of March, the weather in Mumbai begins to get hotter and the humidity level becomes very high. While residents of the area are used to this type of climate, visitors who travel here from dry climates go through an adjustment period before they get used to it.
During the month of June, Mumbai sees monsoon rains which usually fall consistently until the month of September. The rain can help cool the area, but because touring a city during monsoon rain storms is not always pleasant, most people do not plan trips here during these months. The average rainfall during the month of August is about 26 inches… which can seem extreme to many people who live in normally dry climates.
Once September hits each year, the rains begin to subside and the overall humidity in the area becomes lower. This is when the climate in Mumbai starts to become bearable again for tourists.
