There are numerous cultural attractions around the city of Amarillo , which include various museums, a zoo, an art center, botanical gardens, and more.

             The Texas Air and Space Museum is located east of Amarillo adjacent to the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport .  The museum is full of aviation exhibits including NASA aircraft, the de Haviland C-7A Caribou, North American P-51 Mustang and the 'Beercat' Reno Racer.  For hours of operation and admission costs, visit their website

            The Amarillo Zoo is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30am until 5:30pm, and is closed on Mondays.  The Park and Recreation Department of the city operates the zoo, and there is no admission cost.  A recent addition to the animal family is Holly, a medium sized Bengal Tiger. 

            The Amarillo Museum of Art is open to the public year round, and the hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday 10am – 5pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 1pm – 5pm.  Admission is free. 

            The Amarillo Botanical Gardens has something blooming at all times of the year. This can be an enjoyable place to spend a quiet morning or afternoon.
